It’s the official national holiday for books, readers, and independant (or indie) bookstores like Keystone Books & Gifts. The cool part is this will be the FIRST YEAR Circleville gets to celebrate “Independent Bookstore Day” with a bookstore right in Downtown Circleville Ohio. We’re cramming the day full of fun for the whole family with snacks, activities, freebies, collector’s items and exclusive merchandise, author appearances, and more. Join this event to keep up with the details. 9:00am-??? – Free Lindsey’s Donuts Starting in the morning (yep, we’re open early), the first three dozen customers through the bookstore’s doors will get a Lindsey’s Bakery doughnut. 2:00pm-3:00pm – Meet the Authors (TBA) Chat with an Ohio author you are familiar with or meet several others writing a variety of genre. Stop in and show support for local Ohio talent! Watch for list. >> Andra Gillum is a free-lance writer, and the author of Doggy Drama and Puppy Drama. She grew up in Dublin, Ohio and now lives in Upper Arlington, Ohio with her family. Her two dogs (Riley and Lucy) and two kids (Max and Mia) are featured in her books. DoggyDrama.com >> Local author James Strohl 6:00pm-8:00pm – HAPPY HOUR Drinks, readings, and general merriment. What can be better than kicking off a Saturday night with a a glass of wine or cup of coffee in your neighborhood bookstore? Since independent bookstores are great community hubs, we are working wih other downtown and Circleville businesses and organizations. Why are we celebrating independent bookstores? Independent bookstores are not just stores, we see ourselves as community centers and local anchors run by passionate readers. In a world of tweets and algorithms and pageless digital downloads, bookstores are not a dying anachronism. They are living, breathing organisms that continue to grow and expand. In fact, there are more of them this year than there were last year. WE ARE ONE OF THE NEW ONES and we are at your service!
